Operations Safety & Environmental Specialist

The Operations Safety & Environmental Specialist implements and assists in the development of Site/Divisional Safety, Environmental, Security, and Hazmat programs for applicable business units for the Louisville Brush Manufacturing and Distribution Center. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations while also performing EHS audits and assessments in order to prevent environmental, safety and hazmat related incidents. Reports back to Corporate EHS issues or concerns that require corporate assistance. This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with site management to implement Tennant EHS requirements
- Using Corporate policies/procedures as guidelines, customizes local policies/procedures to meet site requirements
- Customize/develop EHS trainings based on corporate guidelines
- Performs EHS trainings as needed to facility employees
- Customize/develop toolkits to site differences
- Conducts applicable environmental regulatory permitting, reporting and other day-to-day activities (i.e. recordkeeping, waste pick-ups, sampling)
- Implements and conducts EHS audits to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and Tennant standards
Performs various assessments (i.e. hazard assessments, ergonomic assessments, and program effectiveness)
Tracking, reporting and communicating EHS metrics to site leadership
Communicates local results up to Corporate EHS
Conducts local incident and injury reviews
Ensures closure of action items deemed necessary from near-miss, incident, or injury reviews
Manages facility emergency response programs
Assists with various local security needs and ensure local security program aligns with corporate strategies
Fosters relationship with local regulatory agencies and local medical provider
Communicating to Corporate EHS department local regulatory changes that may affect corporate strategies
Responsible for site Safety Data Sheet program and compliance
REQUIRED INTERPERSONAL & BEHAVIORAL SKILLS:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in safety, chemistry, biology, or related technical fields and two to five years of experience dealing with safety, environmental and Hazmat issues preferably within manufacturing and distribution center
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or similar environment with experience in managing or handling safety/environmental issues
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA requirements as they pertain to a distribution and manufacturing environments
- Experience with management of change, shipping hazardous material, and ergonomic evaluations
REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must regularly lift and/or moved up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Regularly required to stand, use hands to grip, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms
- Frequently required to walk, talk and hear
ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES:
- Routinely and regularly works near moving mechanical parts
- Occasionally exposed to non-toxic fumes
- Moderate noise level
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to wear safety glasses, safety shoes at all times
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $66,200 - 99,200
Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Tennant Co. reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity. Total Compensation = Base Salary + Benefits
