At Tennant, we are growing in exciting areas such as Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR), IoT/Connected machines, and new Power Sources. We are seeking an experienced Robotic Systems Engineer with in-depth technical domain knowledge and strong, demonstrated leadership in systems design, integration, and program execution to join our team. Responsibilities
- Work closely with organizational leaders, team members, and stakeholders to translate high-level business requirements into well-designed, implemented, and documented solutions.
- Lead Systems architecture design and implementation with a focus on key systems, hardware, and software architectural goals.
- Develop model-based system engineering artifacts over the entire project life cycle. Conduct tradeoff analyses and team discussions to select the best design solutions.
- Provide technical leadership to the team during the development process, including scoping, estimation, detailed design, development, testing, maintenance, and support. Provide guidance and feedback to other engineers.
- Develop and execute system-level verification and validation plans.
- Lead development and adoption of best-in-class engineering practices, frameworks, and tools.
- Keep abreast of industry developments and new technologies. Evaluate new offerings/suppliers.
- Support demonstrations to key stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Robotics, System Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline with at least 5 years of experience (OR Bachelor’s with at least 8 years of experience) in architecture/system design, implementation, and test. Job levels are determined based on a candidates skill set and past experience.
- Expertise in System Engineering processes, including requirement management, documents managements, traceability, verification, and validation of mobile robot systems
- Experience with core mobile robotics and autonomy concepts such as kinematic and dynamic modeling, perception, path planning, simulation, and GUIs.
- Experience working with internal teams and external partners/vendors to develop mobile robotics and autonomy solutions for a variety of applications (ex. industrial, retail, outdoor).
- Experience with analyzing industry standards (ex. IEC 62061, ISO 13849, IEC 63227) for commercial equipment and robotics, and applying them to generate safe, compliant designs.
- Experience with safety-related activities such as risk analysis and FMEA.
- Experience with system modeling (ex. Matlab/Simulink) and requirements management tools (ex. Visure, DOORS).
- Experience with the development tools including software version control (ex. Bitbucket), task tracking (ex. JIRA), data and document/design configuration systems (ex. Confluence, SharePoint, etc.). Experience with scoping of development projects and use of project tracking tools (ex. MS Project).
- Software development experience (Python/C/C++, Linux, ROS).
