SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager, Benefits is responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic benefits vision by designing, refining, continuously improving, and managing all employee benefits & well-being programs and plans to best support the vision and leverage as value-added for employee recruitment, retention, engagement, productivity, claims risk and cost management .  Additionally, this role is responsible for promoting and supporting overall employee health and well-being efforts to help differentiate Tennant Company as an Employer of Choice by providing market competitive benefits plans and programs, and as part of a larger Total Rewards Philosophy.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Benefits & Well-Being Strategy and Vision:

  • Responsible for a strategic vision for the development and delivery of all employee benefit and well-being programs in the Americas region (U.S. Canada, Mexico, and Brazil); with sufficient flexibility and agility to proactively adjust to the priorities of both supporting the business and to successfully address any applicable regulatory or environmental changes.
  • Partner with HRBPs, Risk & Safety to design, develop, and deliver programs.

 Programs and Plans 

  • Responsible for the overall design, development, implementation, management, administration and communication of all employee benefits and well-being plans and programs:
    • Manage all U.S. benefit programs and plans, including:
      • Health & Well-Being Plans -- Active and Retiree Medical, HSA, HRA, dental, and vision; and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
      • Integrated Disability, Leave, and Absence Management programs, including Short and Long Term Disability Plans; all statutory leaves including FMLA and ADA/AA; and all time-off benefits -- Vacation, Holiday, and Sick-Time Pay Plans (hourly and exempt)
      • Retirement Plans – Defined Contribution (DC) and Profit Sharing (PS) Plans
      • Deferred Compensation and Executive Non-Qualified Plans
      • Life Insurance – Basic and Voluntary
      • Manage Voluntary Benefits programs
    • Workers Compensation Claims Management
      • Quarterly Claim Reviews, Strategy Calls and providing assistance with complex claims, and providing vendor resources for additional assistance.
    • Leave Management
      • Assisting in complex leaves including FMLA, STD and ADA
      • Assisting HRBP’s with details regarding specific leaves and laws/rules
      • Strategy calls with cross-functional partners as needed

 

    • Canada – Manage all applicable Health, Life, and Retirement Plans
    • Manage Global Business Travel Accident (BTA) and Emergency Medical Insurance Plans
    • Manage other programs and plans which support Tennant as being an Employer of Choice, demonstrate our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and highlight our overall Organizational Values
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance of all applicable State, Provincial, Federal, or any other applicable local statutory and/or regulatory filings and requirements
  • Work across functional and geographical lines to redesign new and more fully integrated plans and programs, to better leverage economies of scale, risk pooling, and execution excellence
  • Identify, develop, and deliver multiple cost saving and legally compliant tactics to best achieve cost  savings or cost avoidance opportunities  through improving plan design, if applicable; and in helping to promote value through effective employee benefit plan communications, education, understanding, and utilization
  • Support organization’s strategic and operational initiatives as needed.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field or Equivalent experience with Benefits Administration, Master’s Degree preferred
  • 5 to 7 Years of Previous Experience Managing Benefit Plans, including Health & Welfare, Wellness, Retirement Plans and Absence/Leave Management
  • Background and proficiency in all applicable statutory requirements and all applicable government agency compliance requirements
  • Proven and successful negotiating experience, including working with Brokers/Carriers/Vendors to offer the most cost effective and comprehensive plans which add meaningful value to employees while being financially sustainable
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of overall benefits field including the ability to think and act strategically to proactively deliver new and innovative approaches
  • Experience in a global company
  • Solid interpersonal, communication - verbal and written, and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Leadership, coaching, mentoring and negotiating skills
