Senior Electrical Systems Engineer

At Tennant, we are expanding and growing in exciting areas such as autonomous robots, IoT/Connected machines, and new power sources.  We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with a strong, demonstrated background in electrical systems design, integration, and program execution to join our team. Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate development activities and deliverables for Tennant’s Digital Systems Engineering programs.
  • Understanding of electrical system elements and development process, including: wiring harnesses, printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), embedded software, and regulatory testing (UL, IEC, EMC, ESD, EFT).
  • Drive program execution by establishing timelines based on technical risk, supplier lead times, and technical development milestones.
  • Evaluate and quantify product risk using tools such as risk assessments.
  • Organize and lead DFMEA activities across subsystems.
  • Work within DSE (harnessing, design, software, hardware) to ensure all stakeholders have necessary design inputs to execute development of components.
  • Manage technical resources across multiple program efforts.
  • Work cross-functionally (prototyping, sourcing, production, regulatory, test) to ensure all stakeholders can progress through Tennant’s program development process.
  • Communicate program status, schedule, and technical risk to engineering and program management leadership.
  • Manage program logistics, including: part release, cost rollup, part delivery and tracking, and stakeholder communication.
  • Develop standard work practices for DSE including internal standards development.

 

Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Software, or Computer Engineering
  • Minimum 8 years of engineering experience
  • Demonstrated examples of executing complicated technical programs involving many stakeholders.
  • Experience driving development of system components based on defined interfaces, system, regulatory, and performance requirements.
  • Experience with task management tools and defect tracking tools (Jira).
  • Expertise in control system modeling, design, and verification using tools such as MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Experience evaluating and quantifying product risk using tools such as DFMEA and risk assessments.
  • Experience with communication interfaces and networks including CAN, RS-232, Ethernet, and USB.
  • Experience with mechanical design software basic functionality (SolidWorks).
  • Power electronics, power systems, and closed loop control systems experience preferred.
