Senior Accountant External Reporting

As a Senior Accountant at Tennant you’ll have an opportunity to join a global company within a highly technical accounting team. As such you’ll be fielding questions from across the globe, in addition to preparing external financial reports and disclosures and support for external audits. You’ll also work on ad hoc requests and special projects that will have you interacting with various parts of the business.   • Preparation of external financial reporting requirements (e.g., Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings including the 10-K, 10-Q’s, and 8-K releases).
  • Preparation of statement of cash flows.
  • Preparation of select quarterly/annual footnotes support.
  • Preparation of financial data for inclusion in earnings releases.
  • Preparation of 10-Q/10-K drafts including footnotes and financial statements.
  • Support for external audit process related to external filings.
  • Assist in maintaining internal controls documentation and support for periodic certification processes.
  • Ownership of the SEC Edgar filing process for 10-K’s, 10-Q’s, and 8-K releases.
  • Ownership of the XBRL process including maintenance of the XBRL taxonomy as well as creation of the XBRL data filed via the SEC Edgar filing process.
  • Research accounting issues to ensure compliance with US GAAP and to quantify the potential financial impacts on Tennant Company.  Review relevant accounting literature, prepare analysis and recommendations, document issues and conclusions.  Remain current on accounting technical guidance.
  • Prepare analysis of financial statements and accounts as appropriate, including the debt covenant calculations.
  • Support data gathering initiatives in the areas of government compliance and sustainability.
  • Special projects and ad hoc financial analysis on an as needed/assigned basis.


Education and Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in public accounting or external reporting experience
  • CPA certificate preferred
  • Knowledge of XBRL preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • Experience with Wdesk preferred
  • Strong detail and deadline orientation
  • Problem-solving, analytical, and organizational abilities
  • Technical accounting research experience
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage several projects simultaneously
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision
