Indirect Service Business Leader

The Indirect Service Manager is an instrumental role in Tennant’s Service Business and a key leadership position within the North America Service business.  The role involves defining, developing, and leading the implementation of a strategy to utilize subcontractors to profitably grow the NA Service business. This role is responsible for overall cost, profitability, technical and quality performance of the subcontracted labor in varying markets across the US and Canada.  The role interacts directly with all NA Business Unit core leaders including Sales, Service, Legal, Finance, Training, Marketing, and Operations.  To be successful in this role you must demonstrate expertise across a range of program management, process improvement, project management, risk assessment, and leadership skills.


Partnering with Tennant’s Service Leadership Team, this role will first determine existing capacity; current state, and desired state for direct service delivery which then drives where indirect providers are needed to fill in gaps to provide service throughout NA.  This position has responsibility for the following key functions:

  • Lead efforts to determine direct service capacity currently in each market across NA and determine what it should be.
  • Lead the establishment of the capacity modeling while building strategy for how best to augment with outside providers. 
  • Working with the leader of NA Service, develop strategies, tactics, and actions for driving profitable growth and exceeding NA Service goals.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Serve as expert on Service delivery capacity by market, for both Industrial and Commercial work.
  • Create and manage strong relationships with current and new subcontractors to ensure the performance of their contracts and deliverables support Tennant’s program, requirements and quality expectations.
  • Provide program management guidance for the Service and Sales teams to enable the organization to manage the subcontracted effort successfully and meet customer demand.
  • Be the primary interface between Tennant and indirect labor subcontractors, and have responsibility for subcontractor performance success.
  • Develops sourcing and subcontract program management plans that address overall program capture needs and execution.
  • Work with legal team and key personnel to draft and negotiate comprehensive terms and conditions to mitigate contractual risks and/or to meet company business objectives.
  • Makes decisions effecting the performance of the subcontractor.
  • Provide consistent leadership to subcontractors and Tennant counterparts to ensure efficient execution.

 

Required Skills and Competencies

  • The candidate must be customer focused and possess the ability to develop innovative solutions to a variety of complex problems; have excellent verbal, written and presentation skills to accurately report findings and subcontract status to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and guide cross functional teams, customers and other external partners.
  • Strong Strategic, Analytical, Planning, and Operational skills, inclusive of creating detailed work plans.
  • Understanding of complex subcontract/contract relationships.
  • Experience successfully negotiating long terms agreements with large customers or vendors.
  • Experience in developing and executing Business/subcontract management strategies a preferred plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% in support of program and business development efforts.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in business, engineering or related discipline.  MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of business experience working with Service solutions and offerings.
  • Minimum of three years working within a matrixed organization
  • Prior experience in Procurement or Business Negotiations required
  • Direct customer interaction
  • Working within a subcontractor delivery network a plus
