Global Manager New Product Supply

As a Global Manager, you’ll be responsible for providing global leadership to the New Product Development Supply Teams including New Product Sourcing and Supplier Development.  In this role, you will ensure the NPD Supply team delivers direct material support for new products as well as supplier selection, early supplier involvement, commercial negotiation, the procurement of prototype and production parts. This position will guide supplier development projects globally using Tennant’s product development phase gate process and will also support the development of organizational processes to improve program execution, speed, and effectiveness. If you’re looking for a role with strategic oversight where you will be responsible for setting the direction and vision of a team while championing projects, then this is the role for you.




  • Manage the performance for all NPD programs from a Supply Sourcing and Supply Development perspective.
  • Manage select strategic programs as the supply lead.
  • Maintain and further develop key metrics to ensure NPD milestones and requirements are understood, monitored and completed.
  • Help identify supply chain requirements for the development and global launch of new products given quality, cost and schedule targets.
  • Ensure design compatibility with supplier capabilities and approval including design reviews and supplier assessment work
  • Negotiate with internal and external suppliers, solve problems, develop win-win resolutions and develop positive relations.
  • Mentor and develop NPD skills within Global Supply Organization
  • Deliver phase gate expectations supporting New Product Launch Process
  • Meet target costs and project requirements from Supply Base
  • Lead and support cross-functional teams in developing solutions to complex business and technical problems and issues related to or impacting the supply base.
  • Identify, develop and implement global, cross-functional supply chain improvement opportunities within supply chain to achieve best practices.
  • Proactively engage with strategic suppliers in Early Supplier Involvement initiatives and coordinate cross functional team activities related to specification development, technical and design for manufacturability reviews, part validation, and delivered part quality
  • Ensure global strategic supply strategies are followed for all product development projects; facilitate detailed reviews before going to a non-strategic supplier
  • Lead request-for-quote process, negotiate volume-based pricing, create purchases orders and manage lead times and deliveries of purchased parts and assemblies to support proto-type builds, demo unit builds, and start of production.
  • Lead the resolution of blocking items related to supply chain during product development, collaborate and communicate with internal work partners on status, issues, and actions.
  • Support project team in executing supplier assessments, part qualification & approval process
  • Support project team in defining the supply chain capital tooling requirements
  • Support project / material control team in defining inventory model on purchased parts
  • Facilitate completing supply chain product development phase gate deliverables and keep project team updated with supply chain statuses
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key internal work partners and suppliers

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Material Management Engineering or Technology
  • Minimum 8 years of work-related experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a cross functional supply/new product development team environment
  • Experience leading teams and providing direction and ability to manage team execution
  • Strategic thinking
  • Ability to influence cross functional teams
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles and processes
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand 2D engineering drawings and specifications
  • Demonstrated ability in applying project management skills and principles and successfully managing multiple tasks concurrently
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally, while maintaining a client service orientation
  • Results oriented with strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge and exposure to the concepts of Lean and material flow
  • MS Office, SAP or related ERP experience
