Senior Cyber Security Engineer

Position Summary:

The role of the Senior Security Engineer is to identify threats and vulnerabilities in systems and software architecture and resolve causes of security threats as well as prepare for potential threats that could disrupt operations. The Senior Security Engineer will also test security systems and strategies to monitor effectiveness and improve performance. The Senior Security Engineer will advise management on policies and procedures, report on any incidents and educate others to raise security awareness.    Furthermore, the Senior Security Engineer provides technology guidance, road maps, principles, standards, and best practices.  This position requires working with different levels within the organization and partnering with vendors and solution providers outside the organization.

 

This position reports to the VP IT, Chief Information Officer (CIO) and will interact with IT technologists and senior management team members across Tennant.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the organization's assets are protected by enabling the appropriate security controls. Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information
  • Vulnerability awareness and identification. Remain informed about Cyber Threat Advisories and critical vulnerabilities
  • Conduct network and system vulnerability assessments. Lead and drive the vulnerability management and remediation process
  • Threat detection and response. Leverage Threat Intelligence tools to identify emerging threats and prevent or mitigate attacks
  • Management and configuration of network security architectures including firewalls, Intrusion Detection / Protection and Data Loss Prevention
  • Oversee Incident Response program and lead incident response activities
  • Oversee and manage cyber security awareness and training programs
  • Create and maintain security policies
  • Prepare and document standard operating procedures
  • Participate in enterprise architecture reviews. Perform cyber security assessments of third-party applications and services
  • Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes, and propositions for further system security enhancements
  • Develop and report enterprise-level metrics
  • PCI compliance

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience with incident detection, incident response and forensics
  • Experience with Firewalls (functionality and maintenance), Office 365 Security, and endpoint security
  • Vulnerability Management - Rapid7
  • Endpoint Detection and Response - CrowdStrike, AMP EDR
  • SOC/SIEM - Rapid7 IDR & Arctic Wolf
  • DNS security protection – Cisco Umbrella
  • Hands-on experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols
