Leader of Enterprise Applications

Position Summary

The Director, Enterprise Applications leads a high performing team that is responsible for providing application services and support to the global Tennant organization.   The Enterprise Application Leader is responsible for helping define, lead, and execute the strategy for our Global IT Application Team, particularly in the areas of application architecture, delivery, and support.   Leader must bring a focused approach to improving customer experience and driving business efficiency through modern solutions and analytics.   Additionally, this leader will ensure alignment across other functional teams, foster relationships with key business and technology stakeholders, understand the business needs, and share new or existing capabilities that can address or improve business operations.

 

This position reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and will interact with various senior management team members and Executive Leadership across Tennant.
 

Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning

  • Participates in IT strategy planning activities, bringing a current knowledge and future vision of Application technology and systems and best practices as related to the needs of the business.
  • Work with other IT Leaders to define a strategic plan to leverage a managed service framework for the enterprise
  • Collaborate with other IT Leaders and Business partners to translate the business capability roadmaps into technology roadmaps and implementation plans.
  • Build successful stakeholder relationships with other Tennant leaders by developing a clear understanding of business needs and ensuring cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs
  • Determine Application Team objectives, tactics, and budget in alignment with strategic business objectives and in coordination with IT delivery teams to align solution delivery activities to architecture standards and objectives.
  • Accountable for consistency, resiliency, and operational effectiveness of new and existing enterprise applications working closely with the Enterprise Architecture team.
  • Introduce best practices, and provide sound recommendations and strategic direction to business process owners ensuring technology and data are appropriately governed and leveraged at an enterprise level
  • Recommend, customize, and implement IT solutions across enterprise to best meet business objectives and drive consistency, simplification, and collaboration.
     

Operational & Administrative Management

  • Create a roadmap of the opportunities to build managed service capabilities across the Global IT Team; partner with the right vendor(s) to implement the capabilities
  • Develop and lead a high performing technology organization with focus on application selection, implementation, integration, and support.
  • Establishes operating rhythm, health assessments and key performance metrics for the Global Application organization
  • Responsible for the overall effectiveness and efficiency of our application solution portfolio and day to day support ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction are maintained.
  • Establishes metrics, key performance indicators and service level agreements for driving the performance of IT service delivery.
  • Oversight of business continuity and recovery of company's information systems, including needs analysis, design, plan, implementation and documentation.
  • Helps manage IT’s operational budget to help keep the organization on-track.
  • Understanding of software life cycle and feasibility of system upgrades to manage the timely and non-disruptive implementation of updates to provide system usefulness and reliability.
  • Acts as an escalation point for complex and urgent operational issues.
  • Actively sSupport Team engagement initiatives and continue to drive employee satisfaction scores
  • Focus on continuous process improvement and user experience by increasing IT’s value through innovation and emerging technologies, leveraging cloud and other technologies to improve performance and redundancy capabilities while optimizing cost effectiveness.
  • Identifies, vets, and assembles projects that drive EBITDA improvements through IT process improvements
  • Drive effective change management across business leaders and organization
     

 

 

 

Vendor Management

  • Partner with IT Leaders to refine and execute IT vendor management strategy
    Prepare RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports, and other documentation for application projects and associated efforts.
  • Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure application-specific products and services.
  • On-going management and measurement of vendor success

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years successful leadership of a global Application Services team.
  • 10+ years business experience driving IT transformational change while in a senior leadership role for a global enterprise
  • Demonstrated success driving cross-functional global Continuous Improvements initiatives 
  • Experience with primary delivery and development methodologies.  (Waterfall, Agile)
  • Proficient understanding of project and program management including project prioritization and resource allocation in a global IT organization.
  • Experience with ERP solutions and implementations including understanding of key business processes such as Lead-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Record-to-Report, Plan-to-Stock, etc.;SAP experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in effective Change Management
  • Demonstrated use of lean processes to optimize and drive operational excellence across multiple value streams involving operations, IT, manufacturing and supply chain
  • Experience designing and implementing managed services strategies.
  • Experience defining and rationalizing KPIs/metrics in driving measurable improvements tied to EBITDA1 impacting results
  • Experience managing others directly and/or indirectly through mentoring, coaching and persuasion

  • Proven record of driving results and EBITDA impact
  • Executive level written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at all levels and to communicate complex problems to other people in a simple way that they will understand
