Hours: Monday – Friday;

Pay: $72,800 - $109,500

PURPOSE/SCOPE: 

The Global Data Science & Business Intelligence Team is focused on building an agile global Center of Excellence that supports strategic planning, roadmap development and deployment, global standards, and operating model governance in alignment with business and company objectives. The Global DSBI Team enables key strategic priorities and initiatives that improve operational excellence, cost management, customer satisfaction, and Tennant’s competitive position in the marketplace.

The Data Engineer will reside within the Global DSBI Team and support the data engineering, reporting, and analytics needs of Global Supply Chain and North America Business Unit (NABU) customers. This role will work under the direction of senior team members to build, maintain, validate, and improve data pipelines, data models, and reporting datasets that support supply chain/NAUB performance management, cost analytics, and business decision-making. The role will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, clean and transform source data, troubleshoot data quality issues, and develop reliable data assets that make information easier to access, understand, and act on. The Data Engineer will also support process improvements, system projects, and strategic initiatives by helping translate business needs into scalable data solutions that strengthen Global Supply Chain and NABU capabilities.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Support the development, maintenance, and validation of data pipelines, datasets, and reporting models used by Global Supply Chain and NABU customers.
  • Assist with collecting, cleaning, transforming, and integrating data from multiple source systems to improve data accessibility, reliability, and usability.
  • Partner with senior team members to build and enhance data models, semantic layers, and reporting datasets that support supply chain performance, cost analytics, and operational decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, SQL, and other analytics assets in alignment with established team standards and business requirements.
  • Perform data quality checks, reconcile outputs to source systems, and help troubleshoot issues related to data accuracy, completeness, refresh failures, and reporting inconsistencies.
  • Analyze supply chain and NABU data to identify trends, performance gaps, process constraints, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Translate business requirements into clear technical tasks, data logic, and reporting deliverables with guidance from senior data engineering and business intelligence team members.
  • Create and maintain documentation for data sources, transformations, business rules, report logic, and support processes to improve knowledge sharing and long-term sustainability.
  • Support process improvement, system implementation, and strategic supply chain/NABU initiatives by preparing data, building analytical outputs, and validating results.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand reporting needs, explain data outputs, and help ensure insights are actionable for non-technical users.
  • Follow data governance, security, change control, and development best practices when creating or modifying data assets.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge in data engineering, business intelligence, Microsoft Fabric, SAP S/4HANA, Databricks, and related tools to strengthen the team’s long-term analytics capabilities.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Data Analytics/Science required (Master’s preferred), with an associated technology-related minor such as Data Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of related experience in data analytics, data engineering, business intelligence, statistics, supply chain analytics, or a related technical field; internship, co-op, academic project, or applied business experience may be considered.
  • Foundational knowledge of data analysis, statistical methods, data modeling, data transformation, and data validation concepts.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and at least one analytical or statistical programming language, such as Python, R, or a similar tool.
  • Experience or coursework using business intelligence, database, or analytics platforms such as Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Power Platform, Excel, cloud data platforms, or similar technologies.
  • Ability to collect, clean, transform, reconcile, and interpret structured data from multiple sources to support reporting and business decision-making.
  • Basic understanding of data pipelines, semantic models, reporting datasets, and data quality controls preferred.
  • Exposure to ERP, supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, or SAP S/4HANA data preferred.
  • Ability to translate business questions into data requirements, analytical logic, and clear reporting outputs with guidance from senior team members.
  • Certifications or continuing education in Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, SQL, Python, data analytics, data engineering, or related technologies preferred.

Total Compensation = Pay range + Benefits

Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Tennant Sales and Service Co. reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.  The salary range reflects both entry into the role and future growth. Total Compensation = Base Salary + Benefits
