Director Global IT Infrastructure and Operations

Position Summary

The Director of Global Infrastructure and Operations leads a high performing team that is responsible for providing infrastructure services and support to the global Tennant Organization.   The Infrastructure Leader is responsible for helping define, lead, and execute the strategy for our Global IT infrastructure, particularly in the areas of connectivity, user services, cloud, and data services.    Additionally, this leader will ensure alignment across other functional teams, foster relationships with key business and technology stakeholders, understand the business needs, and share new or existing capabilities that can address or improve business operations.

 

This position reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and will interact with various senior management team members and Executive Leadership across Tennant.
 

Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning

  • Participates in IT strategy planning activities, bringing a current knowledge and future vision of infrastructure technology and systems and best practices as related to the needs of the business.
  • Partner with IT leaders in locations across the globe to align infrastructure and operations direction.
  • Build successful stakeholder relationships with other Tennant leaders by developing a clear understanding of business needs and ensuring cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs
  • Determine Infrastructure objectives, tactics, and budget in alignment with strategic business objectives and in coordination with IT delivery teams to align solution delivery activities to architecture standards and objectives.
  • Introduce best practices, and provide sound recommendations and strategic direction to business process owners ensuring technology and data are appropriately governed and leveraged at an enterprise level
  • Recommend, customize, and implement IT solutions across enterprise to best meet business objectives and drive consistency, simplification, and collaboration.
     

Operational & Administrative Management

  • Develop and lead a high performing technology organization with focus on infrastructure and operations.
  • Establishes operating rhythm, health assessments and key performance metrics for the Global Infrastructure Organization
  • Responsible for the overall effectiveness and efficiency of our information infrastructure and day to day support desk operations ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction are maintained.
  • Establishes metrics, key performance indicators and service level agreements for driving the performance of IT service delivery.
  • Oversight of business continuity and recovery of company's information systems, including needs analysis, design, plan, implementation and documentation.
  • Helps manage IT’s operational budget to help keep the organization on-track.
  • Acts as an escalation point for complex and urgent operational issues.
  • Focus on continuous process improvement and user experience by increasing IT’s value through innovation and emerging technologies, leveraging cloud and other technologies to improve performance and redundancy capabilities while optimizing cost effectiveness.
  • Identifies, vets, and assembles projects that drive EBITDA improvements through IT process improvements
  • Drive effective change management across business leaders and organization

Vendor Management

  • Prepare RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports, and other documentation for infrastructure projects and associated efforts.
  • Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure-specific products and services.
  • On-going management and measurement of vendor success

 

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years successful leadership of an infrastructure & operations team.
  • 10+ years business experience driving IT transformational change while in a senior leadership role for a global enterprise
  • 3+ years leading cross-functional global Continuous Improvements initiatives 
  • 5+ years demonstrated IT Incident Management & resolution experience
  • Demonstrated experience in effective Change Management
  • Demonstrated use of lean processes to optimize and drive operational excellence across multiple value streams involving operations, IT, manufacturing and supply chain
  • Experience defining and rationalizing KPIs/metrics in driving measurable improvements tied to EBITDA1 impacting results
  • Experience managing others directly and/or indirectly through mentoring, coaching and persuasion

  • Board level presentation and communication skills
  • Strategic visionary - able to connect the dots in a product, service, manufacturing and customer focused environment in moving from “forward thinking” to “seeing around the corner”
  • Politically savvy, great negotiation skills and leading through influence
  • Proven record of driving results and EBITDA impact
  • Executive level written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at all levels and to communicate complex problems to other people in a simple way that they will understand
