An Operations Manager is responsible for the direction and management of the production department including building maintenance.  Coordinates with other areas, including marketing, R&D and distribution to ensure customer requirements are met.

 

GENERAL RESPONISIBILITIES: 

  • Providing the necessary leadership to manage, coach, and direct assigned production teams to achieve quality, cost, delivery, safety and morale goals; including attaining production schedules in an efficient and cost-effective manner and maintaining quality level per specification and customer requirements.
  • Develop and support concepts of empowered teams, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate the work of employees and support, communicate, administer and interpret company and department policies, work practices and procedures in an effective manner.
  • Develop and train employees, conduct performance evaluations and participate in the interviewing and hiring process for new employees.
  • Initiates employee actions such as; reviews, promotions, transfers, terminations and discipline.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts and Kaizen events.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve bottlenecks, process failures, incomplete procedures, supply chain problems and training deficiencies. Use a data driven problem solving approach to make fact-based decisions.
  • Develop and monitor key metrics to assess safety, quality, engagement, delivery, and cost.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution preferred or relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Previous supervision experience.
  • Experience applying Lean Manufacturing and Operations practices across multiple operations/processes. Standard Work, 5S and value stream mapping.
  • Experience in decision making and exercising sound judgement to plan and accomplish goals.

 

REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or moved up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear safety glasses, steel toed shoes, and hearing protection

 

REQUIRED INTERPERSONAL & BEHAVIORAL SKILLS: 

  • Manufacturing 'floor focused' approach.
  • Proven track record of managing in a capital-intensive environment.
  • Project management skills that keep continuous improvement on schedule and scope.
  • Ability to translate customer needs into operational practices.
