As a Senior Manager of Global Quality, you will support the strategic goals of global operations related to quality. This role will lead the corporate quality function and collaborate with sight quality teams and other global functions both involved and affected by the quality of Tennant products and services.  In this role, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, sustaining and improving the Business System related to Quality (QMS). In addition, you will also be responsible for capturing, reviewing and communicating global quality metrics including but not limited to short term quality (STQ), warranty, and PPM metrics related to both manufacturing and supplier performances. If you enjoy working with various sites and suppliers to understand root cause, identifying resolutions and counter measures for quality issues all while meeting customer expectations and maintaining productivity within Tennant manufacturing, distribution and service, then this is the role for you.  




  • Lead the global manufacturing and supplier quality initiatives and metrics to ensure Tennant Company quality standards are consistently achieved and maintained
  • Develop and implement policies and processes to ensure Tennant Company quality standards are detailed, robust, communicated and measured consistently through-out the organization
  • Critically analyze, using appropriate sources of data, the Tennant Company operations/manufacturing/supplier capabilities; setting strategy, structure, and processes to drive sustained quality improvement in all global manufacturing/distribution sites including affiliates
  • Develop world class, common processes that will make up the Quality Management portion of the Tennant Business System.  Audit sites to ensure compliance with quality Management processes
  • Capture and monitor key metrics and scorecards that the measure quality level performance within the manufacturing / distribution sites including affiliates
  • Align site and quality objectives with the Business Plan, Operations Objectives and the Global QMS/ Tennant Business System to assure effective and efficient use of resources and manufacturing quality excellence
  • Collaborate with sites to establish quality operations goals and objectives for customer focused quality initiatives.  Analyze customer quality data including but not limited to short term quality (STQ) and warranty to determine trends and set strategies, structure and processes to drive improvements in manufacturing and distribution quality
  • Collaborate with new product development / R&D teams to understand the quality attributes, quality risks  and lessons learned from existing products (ex. production performance, quality issues and customer complaints) are integrated in the design and manufacturing process
  • Assure compliance of Tennant Company manufacturing / distribution / supply chain to all applicable laws, regulations and standards
  • Engage others, promote and participate in Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives focusing on quality and/or operational continuous improvement
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice quality vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
  • Support new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Quality activities
  • Engage / collaborate with all Tennant plants, distribution centers and other locations globally regarding internally manufactured and  3rd party component quality
  • Develop a high performing team that will lead the enterprise in quality related initiatives, metrics and actions to improve the customer experience, both internal and external


Education and Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Quality Assurance, Engineering or related fields.
  • Minimum 12 years of work-related experience in Operations / Manufacturing Quality, Supplier Quality, and/or Quality Management Systems
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing and developing a team of individuals
  • Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Six Sigma Certification and Experience is preferred
  • Project / Program Management Experience is preferred
  • MS Office, SAP or related ERP experience
  • Knowledge and exposure to operations management/business systems
  • Results oriented with a strong focus on quality/performance systems
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and support other functional areas including finance, legal, R&D Supply Chain, and Operations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across many functions and levels of the organization
  • Knowledge and experience with global cultures and business practices
  • Willingness to be flexible and adjust to a changing work environment
  • Positive and Can-Do Attitude
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally, while maintaining a client service orientation
