Tennant Company is currently seeking a Facilities Engineer the will support the company's multiple Golden Valley campus facilities, which includes all facilities and production equipment in both manufacturing and office environments.  The role is involved in the operation, maintenance and improvement of facilities equipment structures and supporting infrastructures (HVAC, utilities, water, sewer, electrical, roofing, parking, grounds etc.).  As a Facilities Engineer you will provide facilities engineering support for services needed to maintain equipment and/or building operations using both internal and external company resources and also support corporate strategies and objectives of operational excellence by leveraging building automation and the computerized maintenance management systems.  This role will provide engineering responsibilities for corporate offices, R&D, manufacturing and warehouse environments and assists in managing properties professionally and provides workplace solutions that enhance business operations while maximizing equipment up-time.  You will support Tennant’s various Value Streams mission to be the center of operational excellence, delivering the highest level of customer satisfaction by focusing on continuous improvement activities and root cause problem solving.  This role will also support and grow the use of Net Facilities within the Maintenance structure.



  • Works with all levels of management and campus community on facilities improvements and production concerns.
  • Provides energy plan and reporting metrics. Provides energy use analysis and continually applies systematic approaches to managing energy use and finds creative solutions in energy reduction or ways to increase energy efficiencies in operations.
  • Maximize energy optimization and utility spend with long term strategic thinking and planning.
  • Provide designs, engineering, cost estimating and project management of all facilities and production related projects across multiple facilities and buildings on campus.
  • Manage building processes, programs and maintenance documentation.
  • Leads engineering projects with maintenance staff, architects, engineers and contractors coordinating design and project management with facility and production users.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve process failures. Utilizes a data driven problem solving approach to make fact based decisions.
  • Assists in the management of staff responsible for providing on-going facilities services to each site including building and equipment repair, and preventative maintenance.
  • Oversee facility infrastructure and manage the asset life cycle, creating repair and replacement strategy. Manage the work order system and maintain all necessary maintenance records.
  • Help identify and drive maintenance related continuous improvement efforts within the Maintenance Department and all Golden Valley facilities.
  • Support the maintenance department by implementing Lean concepts that reduce or eliminate waste.
  • Develop and negotiate partnerships with third party contractors and service providers to deliver best in class service.
  • Must demonstrate willingness to work flexible hours when dictated by business needs.
  • Support our tier structure, representing maintenance at other value stream tier board meetings. 
  • Support other value stream projects and CERs from maintenance and facilities.
  • Lead tier meetings





  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Architectural Engineering or related field required.
  • 5+ years experience in facility systems or facilities maintenance (or equivalent), preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Work experience with electrical/electronic and building automation is preferred.
  • Computer skills: including but not limited to; MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, AutoCAD, SAP, Building Automation systems (JCI software experience/programming is highly preferred), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Project Management: Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects.
  • Experience with TPM, predictive and preventative maintenance, 5S, Standard Work concepts and tools.
  • Project Management skills coupled with the ability to effectively manage and partner with contractors, vendors and interim team members.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations including those mandated by, OSHA, Building Code, ADA, NFPA, NEC & EPA preferred.
  • Experience with capital expenditure requests and supporting documentation providing data for return on investment.

  • Ability to take direction and accept supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgment in varied situations.

  • Clear understanding of problem solving processes and methods including A3.
  • Ability to translate customer needs into operational practices.
  • Know when to escalate issues that require additional technical or leadership support.
