Service Center Specialist

PURPOSE/SCOPE: 

  • Recondition (Recon), repair and/or rebuild lease returns, trade-in machines, and rentals to be sold to a growing and demanding customer base. There also will be cases of repairing customer machines when they come into the shop.  Shop Service Representatives provide quality customer service and communication to minimize costs and ensure satisfaction.                      

 

GENERAL RESPONISIBILITIES:    

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, air and water-cooled combustion engines, and diesel-gas-LP powered engine problems on all Tennant products.
  • Maintain records of all service activities through the use of completed repair orders, machine checklists, and expense reports.
  • Estimate machine repair/rebuild requirements and prepare necessary data to provide and accurate repair quote.
  • Responsible for proper and safe use, maintenance, and reporting of Tennant Company property. This includes tool and equipment.
  • Consistently present a professional image, both in personal appearance and condition of company equipment.
  • Responsibile for completing work in a timely manner and using appropriate judgement to ensure quality and cost targets are achieved on each completed machine.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mobile equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with one or more of the following. Mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, air and water-cooled combustion engines, and diesel-gas-LP powered engines.
  • Able to read blue prints, electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Can safely use hand and power tool, equipment, and diagnostic devices.
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of how to use a personal computer, email, and Tennant systems.
  • Must provide own basic hand tools, specialty shop tools are provided.
  • Previous experience and proven record of working in a lean/continuous improvement work environment desired.

 

REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Routinely lifts up to 40 pounds individually with most items weighing between 2 and 20 pounds. Occasionally may be required to lift items weighing up to 90 pounds.  Assistance is provided for items weighing over 60 pounds.
  • Works in multiple positions during a shift
  • Position requires sitting, standing, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Position requires bending, stooping, kneeling, or squatting on a daily basis. May be up to 30% of the day.
  • Must be medically capable of performing all aspects of the job with the maximum amount of safety.

 

 

ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES:

  • Routinely and regularly works near moving mechanical parts
  • Occasionally exposed to hot conditions
  • Occasionally exposed to non-toxic fumes
  • Moderate noise level
  • Occasionally exposed to oil, grease, gasoline, dust, metal particles, cleaning fluids/detergents, solvents, battery acid and sharp edged materials

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to wear safety glasses, steel toed shoes and hearing protection

  • Consistent attendance either onsite or remotely as needed by the business.
  • Ability to take direction and accept supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgment in varied situations.
