Senior HR Manager

The Senior Manager, HR will serve in a key leadership role around our people strategies for our North America operations teams, Global Supply, Strategic Manufacturing and Field Operations teams.  In this role, you will act as a strategic thought partner to leaders to translate business objectives into comprehensive people strategies. Alongside your team, this role is responsible for delivering full-cycle HR support to our manufacturing distribution and reconditioning centers in MN, MI, KY, TX, and Toronto and global teams. This role provides an opportunity to flex in-between strategy and execution. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an advocate and drive improvement to the employee experience, focused on skilled labor.  Responsible for creating and maintain a positive employer-employee relationship.  Drive a culture of responsiveness to employee feedback, questions and/or concerns.

  • Provide strong business partnering, including influencing, partnering, and being a sounding board with all levels of management (executives to first-line managers), coaching leaders, and be a strong employee advocate.

  • Consult with leaders on organizational structure and change initiatives.  Provide the tools and support to ensure smooth transitions.

  • Drive data-based decision-making through analyzing operations data to identify trends and recommend innovative solutions to improve performance, retention, engagement and employee experience.  Drive functional HR process improvements.

  • Lead annual talent review and performance management processes.  Partner with Learning & Development team to develop and implement training and development programs.

  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition to ensure that top talent is brought into the organization, including the creation of skilled labor recruitment strategies and management of Tennant’s 3rd party hiring partner. 

  • Drive and recommend employee relations practices necessary to promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.  Provide support and advice to managers in administering company policies and procedures to ensure equitable treatment of employees.

  • Facilitate the employee engagement survey processes.  This includes communications, facilitation of participation, sharing results and follow-up.

  • Partner closely with Tennant’s external partner to manage leaves of absences, FMLA, ADA and worker’s compensation.

  • Partner with Compensation and the business to provide recommendations on market pricing, promotions and other compensation related items.  Ensure Tennant is well-positioned in the market to attract top talent.

  • Develop, coach and grow the HRBP team ensuring the team is motivated, challenged and high performing.  Drive process improvements, process alignment and cohesion across the team.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field

  • Minimum 10 years of HR experience

  • Experience managing a team of direct reports

  • Manufacturing and/or distribution experience highly preferred

  • Experience partnering with all levels of employees and leadership, ability to move in-between the strategic and tactical

  • Experience driving process improvements and knowledge of Lean and other continuous improvement methodologies a plus
